The first time I've heard a Britney Spears song on SIRIUS. Still looking for my love songs, since Neil Diamond somehow took over channel three, she pops up singing "Sometimes". Without the video there really is nothing there, except the awkwardness of her inability to sing. It was all about the blondeness, and that tight bosomy body.

Since her breakdown, I know it's easy to wonder what all the fuss was about. But there is a reason why she was such a sensation. For my psychology friends, she was a Jungian archetype of the dream girl. Mmm, what a piece of ass she was...

This Monkish gem is in response to the Britney drama - going in and out of rehab, shaving her head, as well as this lunatic attack on a paparazzi vehicle. The question posed for debate was whether she was seeking attention or going crazy.

I wanted to include a video that was posted that consisted of clips in which Britney sings a cappella, so that we can be clear about her singing abilities, or the want thereof. I could not find it, but I came across a happier moment in this pop history, and since Monk has been rather uncharitable, I thought I would include it here. I like this performance by Britney and Michael Jackson.



It's too bad about Michael, too. There was some talent.

US Magazine reported that Spears went into a hair parlor to get her head shaved and that when the hair stylist refused to shave her head, Spears grabbed the clippers and shaved it herself.

... The employee told US Magazine that Spears was agitated when she arrived at the tattoo parlor and that when someone asked her why she shaved her head, Spears said, "I don't want anyone touching me. I'm tired of everybody touching me."

You know Paris must be laughing, "You still think you're too good for me, bitch?" These two have the makings of the ultimate catfight. If Britney ends up in a mental hospital or a rehab center, we probably won't see that though.

Thinking about Britney's babies, it is a little depressing to think that in another eighteen years we will be gawking over them as wild, young things with the future before them and the world as their oyster, as we continue to make do with our smaller, humble lives.

Though, I like the idea of still somehow enjoying my reading, and even my blogging, life in my late fifties and early sixties - it brings a smile to my face. Yet, there is something sad about it still.
