WASHINGTON (CNN) — Another major American industry is asking for assistance as the global financial crisis continues: Hustler publisher Larry Flynt and Girls Gone Wild CEO Joe Francis said Wednesday they will request that Congress allocate $5 billion for a bailout of the adult entertainment industry.

...

Flynt and Francis concede the industry itself is in no financial danger — DVD sales have slipped over the past year, but Web traffic has continued to grow.

But the industry leaders said the issue is a nation in need. "People are too depressed to be sexually active," Flynt said in the statement. "This is very unhealthy as a nation. Americans can do without cars and such but they cannot do without sex."

"With all this economic misery and people losing all that money, sex is the farthest thing from their mind. It's time for congress to rejuvenate the sexual appetite of America. The only way they can do this is by supporting the adult industry and doing it quickly."

-- CNN

Flynt and Francis are spoofing the bailout mania, of course, but the claim may be more reputable than that of many Wall Street and corporate execs - the greatest robber barons yet.

Lipstick Index

Apparently your ideas have found a following with women.

There is already the Lipstick Index; where the sales of lipstick rise in a recession, because the chicks do not want to spend on more expensive dresses etc.

Sheesh! These economists seem to have colorful explanations for every damn thing. I have my doubts as to whether it is a ``science.''

My favorite is the correlation between the length of hemlines and the stock market: when the market is soaring, hemlines rise excitingly high; but when the market is falling, so do the hemlines. That's easy to understand: when there is a lot of money in the air, women are more aggressive about selling themselves. But that's bad news now, since the market has been crashing and may not rise for a looong time - and I love short hemlines (http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/1/10/Sexy_miniskirt_high_heels_and_pink_G-String.jpg).

actully this makes sense to me. as I rencently bought some flavored lip gloss for my husbands enjoyment instead of some sexy little outfit. he was rather happy with the new lip gloss. but it was never anything I really used in the past so it may just be a novalty to him. that something new and unexpected factor.

That is soo sweet! :)

It is nice to treat yourself to an inexpensive pick-me-up, ever so often, in these times. I do that all the time as well.

Except that I ``pamper'' myself with books. Got myself a cute little algorithms book from the library, yesterday. I am looking forward to reading it over the weekend.

lol..I hadn't really thought of it as pampering myself, more as pampering him, but since I wear it for more attention then I guess it would be pampering me too.
a good book is a wonderful pampering thing. I would think of that as pamering myself too. or a new pair of shoes. don't know what it is about shoes that draw me sooo....
