I had not heard of Knut before. There is a post about him at LJ's celebrity community, and someone was kind enough to post a YouTube about Germany's celebrity polar bear, so meet Knut:
He is in the news now because Knut has received an anonymous threat on his life: "Knut is dead! Thursday midday." But the deadline passed and all is cool.
I don't know. I guess the story is a keeper - cute, strange, and macabre at the same time. Maybe it is someone's idea of a dark joke, but you cannot know these days, can you?

Knut has been in the news ever since he was born because he's being brought up by humans which in the eyes of the Nature Protection over there is unnatural. According to them he should have been euthanized after birth when it became clear that he couldn't be brought up by his mother.
I'm just wondering what is so natural about an animal living in a zoo anyway but I guess that's just me.
