Sleep Tight and Don't Let the Bedbugs Bite

Absent from the U.S. for so long that some thought they were a myth, bedbugs are back. Entomologists and pest control professionals are reporting a dramatic increase in infestations throughout the country, and no one knows exactly why.

-- Kate Brumback for the Associated Press

I know I thought that the old, familiar bedtime well-wishing was just a sing-songy plaything. The story was freaking me out a bit. It is a creepy annoyance one just doesn't need. The ants are bad enough. At least, it does not seem like we are a favored striking ground for these bloodsuckers, for now.

xXx

Ugggh, yeah. Recently in Winnipeg there have been some infestations in some public housing. I think what makes them creepiest is that your bed is supposed to be a safe place!

I guess this would be the downside of globalization. :D

We actually just wrote a letter to the hotel we stayed at in Chicago two times ago because we were upset about insects in our room...not bed bugs, thank God. Bed bugs are more round than these roach-like bugs. But I hear travel is really bringing problems as people go all over and take things with them.

Not just a clever rhyme...let's hope "Ring around the rosie" doesn't make a comeback now!

It may be time to bring back the DDT. Sometimes the best play is just the lesser evil.

*sigh*

now it's going to be even harder for me to go to sleep.

Exactly!

"What, is that something crawling around on me!?"

And you know Texas is an easy home for these kinds of things, bleh.

Makes you think twice about staying in a motel from now on. Ick.

You definitely want to think twice about those no-tell hotels that charge by the hour. ;)
