I guess I'm a little better than I was yesterday, but I am not over it. It's not just a one-day thing. It was a real hardship taking care of 'trash day' first thing in the morning, acclimating my body back to vertical life. My head feels like it has a vice squeezing on it, but it looks like I can read. I am pursuing my everyday routine, but I have a feeling that, like yesterday, I will end up spending a lot of my afternoon and evening in bed.

It looked threateningly overcast. I checked the forecast, and they are expecting another stormy weather-system tonight. Sammy was the only cat out, and I went and grabbed him. He did not put up much of a fight. He had not come in all morning, and he must be hungry.

Pop just got out of his room, and when I tell him the forecast, he said that he heard about it last night. He grumbles, "Now we get all this rain. We don't get anything in the summer when we need it. It's always the same shit every year!" That outburst surprised me. A little spirit there. Maybe he is thinking of the water bill.

I was right to think that I would be conked out again in the noon. There's something about metabolizing lunch that, in conjunction with this dry virus, really knocks me out. Lots of bed rest coming.

Evening

Pop returned late this evening, a little after six. He had quite a bit to unload, including four cases of bottled water. I still feel weak and burn with a fever, but I managed. Not having a cough or a runny nose, Pop has no idea that I am actually ill. After an extended dozy-nap after lunch, I was able to get back into "Magic Mountain" in the late afternoon. I am better than I was yesterday, but you still wouldn't want to be me. I dread the shower I need to take this evening. It's going to be like holy water to a demon. But I have to do it. My hair is so greasy it is flammable.

Shower

The shower actually felt revitalizing. There were moments, fresh out of the shower, when I felt perfectly fine, but then I can feel the vice squeezing my brain. And the weakness is still here, and the fever has come back in strength. Still, I am optimistic that I might wake up tomorrow morning in pretty good shape.
