Halloween: Dress Like a Whore Day

“IN her thigh-highs and ruby miniskirt, Little Red Riding Hood does not appear to be en route to her grandmother’s house. And Goldilocks, in a snug bodice and platform heels, gives the impression she has been sleeping in everyone’s bed. There is a witch wearing little more than a Laker Girl uniform, a fairy who appears to shop at Victoria’s Secret and a cowgirl with a skirt the size of a tea towel.”
-- Stephanie Rosenbloom, "Good Girls Go Bad, for a Day," in The NY Times
Ah, Halloween! It sounds like a splendid holiday to me. Would that I could enjoy it more as an ogre or Jack the Ripper. In addition to talking about the trend toward ever sexier costumes for babes, Ms. Rosenbloom gives us much hand-wringing about sexism and gender issues, blah, blah, blah, about a holiday that Carlos Mencia jokes should be called Dress-Like-a-Whore Day. Hey, why should Christmas be only one day a year? Sexy Halloween and Spring Break help to spread the cheer around the rest of the year.
