Before I headed out this morning, I saw a news/ad item on the forthcoming Grand Theft Auto IV, and, god, I want! I really got into Vice City, and it is one of my favorite retreats. This new one looks like a new generation of technology. The graphics really do seem to have a much more cinematic feel to it.

The only regret is that you know they must be prudishly restrained when it comes to sexual content. They cannot go to an Adults Only version that Leisure Suit Larry's college game went to. And you know they'd like to give us all we want on that score. But they are first and foremost about the money, so they got to keep it chaste.

Another regret is that it probably will be a long time before they come out with a PC version. I'm not shameless enough to go for a Playstation or GameBox or whatever are those TV/game consoles. I understand they are pricey. Well, sometimes anticipation is the greater part of the joy.

When I had my fill of the afternoon reading and found myself done with the news-harvesting, I still had forty-five minutes before the pre-dinner rounds.

This was a good time to get back into Vice City. So I thought.

I was a little excited clicking into it and pulling out the disc from the shelves. The appetite was there. So I thought.

The experience just fell flat. Even when I beat up my first whores bloody, the thrill was not there.

I did not care about Tommy and the city. It felt like mindless clicking. There was none of the old enchantment of being sucked into that virtual world.

Just not in the mood? Or does one just need a new game, to give the clicking some purpose, to experience something different?

I'm thinking that Leisure Suit Larry might be different. I am more fond of that story and the characters. Yet, I am not keen to give it a try just yet.

There is no inclination to get a new game. Even if I had the money.

For now, we will stick to the books, the movies, and the blogging. It's plenty.

While transferring these links, I actually started to feel some sppetite for the game. I'm not anxiously digging the disk out, but I am thinking about getting back to those mean streets.
