Hangman

A while back I was on the hunt for a diversionary game to expend some restless energy while I'm blogging or taking a reading break, and I wanted something simple, like Hangman. I even browsed Amazon for the game. I cannot believe that I didn't think to simply google the thing:

HANGMAN

Of course, now that I have it at my fingertips, I'm no longer interested. But you never know when it might come in handy. Catchy game music, too!

Auto Bailout

The first issue will be whether to bail out Detroit. What is the core truth about Detroit? Auto executives will tell you that it’s the credit crisis, health care, retirement costs and unions. Sure, those are real. But the core truth is that for way too long Detroit made too many cars that too many people did not want to buy. As even General Motors conceded in its apology ad last week: “At times we violated your trust by letting our quality fall below industry standards and our designs become lackluster.” Walk through any college campus today. You don’t see a lot of Buicks.

Over the years, Detroit bosses kept repeating: “We have to make the cars people want.” That’s why they’re in trouble. Their job is to make the cars people don’t know they want but will buy like crazy when they see them. I would have been happy with my Sony Walkman had Apple not invented the iPod. Now I can’t live without my iPod. I didn’t know I wanted it, but Apple did.

Oh, my god, they can breed!

New York Magazine has published some of the gems gleaned from that site, such as this one from Zak:

I am rational, integrated, and efficacious. So far, I’ve never met a person who lives up to the standard I hold for myself (except online).

I take my relationships seriously. I am simply not attracted to many of the women in this world. I do not “hook-up” with girls. I only kiss those who deserve, and so far I have only encountered one who did. I would love to find someone I can learn something from; someone who challenges me to think; someone I can feel like I’ve won, rather than lowered myself to.
And they say romance is dead, hah!

At least they are more demanding than I am. ;)

For a moment I was afraid this was going to be a reprisal of the apple in the Garden of Eden story.

There is much buzz that, whatever happens in this election, Palin's is still a rising political star, and that her camp is more worried about McCain dragging her back down, so that this is even a source of severe dissension in that embattled campaign. I suspect that in the promised event that the Republicans actually lose this one, the Grand Old Party will get over their Palin-love like a bad hangover and we won't have to hear about her again in presidential politics, or so it is to be hoped. I suppose it is too much to hope that she might try to extend her fifteen mintues of fame by posing nude in Playboy, though I think she'd look good in bunny ears.

Very sweet, of course. Even toothachingly so. But this is fiction at least in part, no? Especially when it comes to meeting the new wife-lion. I'm more wary when I play with our back yard kittens - those tiny teeth and claws are sharp! One of those lions will take off your head and play with it like a soccer ball.
