Wow, I cannot believe that Clint Eastwood could embarrass himself like that. In his speech, he imagines that Obama is seated in a chair behind him, and he actually makes 'fuck yourself' jokes a central theme of his ramble, when he was able to get past all those 'senior moments'. And the man is indeed 82 years old. He has done enough in his life that he can be forgiven for this and all will be happily forgotten, but it was hard to watch. At least it could not have been that big of a help to the Republicans.

Speaking to Invisible Obama last night, in a performance that seemed to have been written by Timothy Leary and performed by Cheech & Chong, Clint Eastwood was able to drive home to tens of millions of viewers the central message of this year's Republican National Convention: We Are Delusional and Detached from Reality. Vote for Us!

A week or so later, Clint speaks out in an interview, and if you thought he might be contrite, you are sadly mistaken.

"President [Barack] Obama is the greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people, [Mitt] Romney and [Paul] Ryan would do a much better job running the country, and that's what everybody needs to know.I may have irritated a lot of the lefties, but I was aiming for people in the middle."

I thought the idea that tax cuts pay for themselves was the greatest hoax perpetrated on the American people.

A couple of weeks later, it seems that Mr. Eastwood has a different tone.

_ _ _

Clint Eastwood finally admitted what everyone already knew ... the GOP made a HUGE MISTAKE by hiring him to speak at the Republican National Convention -- calling Mitt Romney's people "dumb" to ask him in the first place.

Clint opened up in a recent interview with Extra's Jerry Penacoli, claiming, "If somebody’s dumb enough to ask me to go to a political convention and say something, they’re gonna have to take what they get.”

It's a pretty crazy statement ... considering Clint had previously rebuffed critics of his infamous "Invisible Obama" speech by refusing to admit the entire thing was a train wreck.
