the a/c

During this heat wave I wish I had the nerve to try running the a/c at nine-thirty, though ten o’clock is itself a half-hour headstart. It would only help a little bit anyway. What we really need is at least 33% more horsepower in our air-conditioning. How I would love to feel a little cold sometimes! Though I sometimes get that at around eleven at night when it is about time to shut the a/c off. Much too little and too late. Maybe I should try putting ice cubes in my shorts.

In America we have so much free speech, there is probably no penalty for quoting out of context, but I'm sure you abide by a higher standard. :p

I dread the summers to come. It may not exactly be the case that every year will be historically worse, but this looks like the trend, a gradual worsening. The land is changing and not for the better, unless you're a reptile.
