Monk is in the kitchen cleaning up after his roast beef dinner, and he notices Bo repeatedly going to his water dish to lap up more water. Thinking that this is just opportunity-drinking, Monk decides to close off the eskie in his room. He calls Bo from his bedroom, but the dog only goes as close as the entry, staying in the hallway, just looking at Monk.
Bo knows what's up. Monk keeps calling but to no avail, until he cannot help laughing. It is the laughing that draws Bo inside, though. Monk gets up getting ready to close the door behind him, and as he expected, even in Bo's old age, the dog exudes some eagerness to go out with him.
Monk just laughs some more. The ol' eskie still has some play in him, but it is pretty rare these days. And Monk treasures the experience that much more.
