The Debate community is trying to stir itself into life. It probably has less than a fifty-fifty chance of succeeding, but I came across a good quote that is attributed to Calvin Coolidge by a Debate troll:
Press on: nothing in the world can take the place of perseverance. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.Ah, persistence and determination, the one thing I lack most...

H.L. Mencken, the famous newspaperman, said Coolidge was "a darling of the gods...No other American has ever been so fortunate, or even half so fortunate."
You just can't beat good luck!
