A New York Times Christmas in September

Well, hallefuckinglujah, the Times announces that they will stop charging for their website. Don't let Monk complain that he didn't get anything for Christmas, because Santa came early this year!

Maybe I can even get my chicken fried rice today, after all!! :)

That really is awesome news! How many times have I gone to their site & only gotten to see a snippet of an article, while the rest was reserved only for paying subscribers.

Paying for porn I can accept, but for news? That's a little hard for me to do.

It does seem a little undemocratic, doesn't it? Though, the writers and reporters have to eat, too, but thank god for advertising dollars, I guess.

Isn't the Times a bit behind the times actually? It seems like all the other newspapers realized this wasn't going well about a year ago and went back to free online access (w/ registration). Esp. when most of the stuff is syndicated for free the next day anyway, I never understood it in the first place.

My understanding is that the Times was out on a limb, rather than behind the times, in that only few even ventured to try to get people to pay for their stuff. Apparently, only the Wall Street Journal has enjoyed real success in requiring payment, but they may be going the free-route, too. That's certainly great for us and blogging.

As for porn, I still think you get what you pay for. If I were a man of means, I'd have to try that screamandcream site, one of the best for rape porn.

I feel your pain though you'd be surprised what you can find for free. The only thing I'd really pay for though is Abby Winters. Those are my kind of gals.

Chicken fried rice is one of my favorite dishes, but it has been hard for me to find a place that serves it like I like it. I have found such a place downtown, and when I go to the library, I get my feed on! :D
