♠ Saddam has been found guilty and is sentenced to hang, hopefully swinging for a very long time before dying. I wonder if the hanging will be televised, or at least YouTubed.
It's not like you to express such cruel sentiments towards anyone, even such an outright criminal as Saddam. I think it's right that he should be found guilty, and it's right that he should be prevented from damaging other people's lives any further. I'm against the death penalty, but I can at least accept, however reluctantly, that there may not be any more humane way of stopping him available, since if he were kept in prison he still has misguided supporters who might try to contrive his escape.
On the other hand, making him suffer will not do anything to alleviate all the suffering he has caused to others; nor will it teach him a lesson, since he will not live to put that lesson into practice. Therefore I say, if he must be executed, let it be at least humane. In killing him, we should keep what dignity we have and not descend to his level.
I have a dark humor. I guess I haven't shown it much to you guys. It's sort of a satirical bent, perhaps. More in jest than seriously philosophical. A gallows humor.
You are a very gentle soul, Miss Next, but that's one of the things that makes you special. Like so many in these arguably debased times, I am rather jaded of spirit.
