Small-Minded Idiots

“If Democrats win in '06, Bin Laden can claim victory.”

-- Some GOP numbskull, presumably - Scheuer?

I just got that line on Fox News. It is perhaps known that I appreciate the argument that there are significant elements in the West that seem to believe the jihadists and terrorists have the moral high ground, and if such voices are empowered, it might be said that the West has lost the will to fight and survive. Some of those elements may even be in the Democratic party. Neverthemore, to lay that charge upon the party as a whole is just another one of those provocations that lead one to pick up things and smash them against the wall. It is that kind of silly argument that convinces me that the Republicans also are not up to the conflict. We have too many small-minded idiots, too few real leaders.

Heh, there is so much competition for the worst, that it is always an open contest. At least it's kinda funny as we watch them try to outdo each other. ;)

It's like the people who want to blame Clinton for 9/11. On whose watch did it actually happen though? As the Daily Show has said recently, Bush just likes to "listen to his generals." Um, you're the Commander-in-Chief, dude.

So we're supposed to just all forget that bin Laden has been able to claim *actual* victory under the Bush administration's time by killing thousands and never being caught?

It's also interesting to think what might happen should we turn to real foreign policy issues rather than wagging the dog of terrorism out there. Single-minded Republican obsession with hunting down "evil-doers" makes me think a bit of the bumbling chase comedies where we all have a good laugh at the compulsive, foolish hunter going after the wascally wabbit.

The tension in the political air is thick. It's pretty nasty out there with all the dirty ads and everything else. It feels like anything is possible for the remaining week or so.

But on the lighter side, I just came across a Rachel Ray post I thought you might fancy, not that it shows her off, but it's news and hype of sorts:
