Last night, some of life's most special magic seemed to fall Monk's way. Meredith laid out the deal: a one week stay with sex on the last night. He had a struggle to get past her requirement that he wear a blindfold throughout, and after today's calls it is not clear that he is free of that constraint. He has to be tested for sex diseases. They would be together in August.
Monk was so happy. But life is not that easy.
Today, Meredith seemed to have some serious reservations. In an early conversation, she says that she wonders whether he is coming to Florida for her or just to see her naked. Then, in an afternoon call, knowing that she was getting a call from John, Monk opens with a throw-away question, "How did the call go?" and she thinks that he asked how is the call-girl.
Monk comes to his senses, and realizing that he was letting his fantasies to get the better of him, he tries to protect the friendship, telling her that there is no deal. If it happens, great. If it does not, the friendship is more important.
