Dr. Walsh said the tricky business of video game ratings was brought home to him recently during a seminar he was conducting, when a woman approached him to say she was shocked to hear that M stood for Mature. "Her kids had been telling her it stood for Mild," he said.

-- "Game Ratings: U is for Unheeded" by Katie Hafner for The NY Times

That is from an article about the rating system for video games, and it's a bit that can bring a smile to one's face.

Hey there! You students seem to be very, very busy. I thought something light might be nice for those who at least take a peak into LJ for some diversion, as well as for myself.

oddly enough it says right under the rating what it means. but just incase one isn't smart enough to check the box they have the break down of what it means posted with the games at toys 'r' us and circute city, and I think even target. (that's where we get the games) any parent out there who doesn't know the games rating only have them selves to blame. bad parents never admit that they're too lazy to be good parents. looking on the vidio game box requires so much effort. funny how with freedom of speech so many are freely speacking out for cencorship.

I'm with you, sister! I'm afraid that people are just looking for excuses to censor, but I'm glad that there may be too many people who like their entertainment full and hearty for that to succeed.
