A Foretaste of Autumn

Stirring from his slumber, it is cool enough that Monk wonders whether he left the air-conditioner on all night.

Then, fully awakening and getting out of bed, he still goes outside without a shirt to take Little Bear out and get the newspaper, to discover that the morning air has the slightest bite of an autumn chill in it.

It is in the middle sixties again, and it feels more like it this morning. It's a bit early in the season, but it's a nice taste of what is to come...

Most of the summer has been in the 60s'70s and we've only had a handful of days in the 80s or 90s.

In the heart of our summer, we need to leave it on all night as well, but this is where we get thrifty. It's not so bad, since I had some fear that we might have tried to go without the a/c altogether - a little taste of hell.
