debate thread. Taken out of context one fears that it might be misunderstood, so that it might not be the better part of wisdom to post it like this, but Monk never laughed so hard. Even afterwards, thinking about it, he would resume laughing, and laughing enough to hurt his gut.
It has to be appreciated that a good number of Debate threads is only so much inanity over who is retarded. This is the first time Monk saw this response and it killed him. His reaction is perhaps driven in part by the poignant and harsh contrast between the evocation of wondrous innocence and the harsher side of men's minds. And there really is a self-deprecatory quality in this.
