Cats

It's Ash who meows me out of bed, but Sammy adds in his cries when I actually get up. It strikes me as a different sort of meowing & crying. It feels more like the eagerness of kids on Christmas morning, anxious to start opening presents. I tell them, "Today. I promise." It's another bright sunny day, and, unless we strangely take another rainfall, I fully intend to let them go free. This afternoon.

My Old Globe

It's a good thing I didn't throw away my old globe. Reading that book on ancient Rome, I decided to lock in my understanding of where exactly is the Caspian Sea (and I agree with those who believe it is more lake than sea). Of course, I can find maps on the Internet, but I was then curious where Israel was in relation to the Caspian and that part of the world, and I am not expert enough on navigating Internet maps to click onto a ready answer. So, I decided to pick up my magnifying glass and go to my room and check my globe. Unfortunately, my globe perhaps makes for a better nightlight than a globe. I got my answer, but it's not as easy to see as I would have hoped. There is no need to worry, though, about my looking to purchase a new and better globe. That is way, way down on my wish list.

Mitt Romney

LOL Mitt Romney is a piece of work. He just made it into the Senate, and has taken the position of being an antagonist to Trump. Yet, one learns that he supports a border wall, too. Cripes, even if one favors impregnable border security, the wall is a crazily inefficient way to do it. Its sole value rests in the symbolic value it has for the right-wing popular mind.

I guess it's easy to read what is going on here. Romney is looking to run in the presidential primaries against Trump. He essentially wants to give Republicans the option of a sane version of Trump and his hard right-wing politics. I have a feeling that he is in for some humiliation. Why go for halfway crazy when you can have the full thing with Trump?

Calico

I was in the kitchen and heard a meowing from out back that haunted me a little. I had let the cats out earlier, but they were both inside now. I stepped out to take a look. I was thinking it was a stray cat. I couldn't find the source, and the soft, plaintive meowing soon ceased. I couldn't help tormenting myself by picking at an old wound, as I recalled Coco, fondly fancying that it might be her calico ghost.

Cowboys

Pop has returned from Kay's. On his way back out to do his rounds, as I am waking myself up from my nap, he asks if I want anything. I say molletes. He then informs me that the Cowboys play tonight. A play-off game. "Already?" I said.

I was obviously still recovering from my nap. It is January. If anything it is late to begin the football play-offs, relative to my old expectations. When I was a kid and liked football, they'd be getting ready for the Super Bowl by now, rather than just starting the play-off rounds.

White Legs

The Cowboys will go on in the play-offs. I watched some of the game. One was able to see the cheerleaders more often in the background. God, those white legs in short-shorts!

Being left to make do in Pop's office for much of the evening, I wasted a lot of time trying to find what I used to call a 'hard-R movie' on Amazon. Sexploitation. It's very rare when one finds something good. Then I am left to wonder why I do this, when I now have ready access to everything I could want on free-streaming porn sites? I suppose it would be nice to find a better set-up to a scene of rape and misogyny, not to mention getting something in English rather than Japanese or Russian.
