I was eager to get back to Hume this morning. So, I put off Mann's letters. And I find myself going back to the idea of making my mornings 'philosophy mornings' after all. I'm just loving it, and I remember that I have wanted to get back to Plato's dialogues for some time. However, I may limit my philosophy mornings to the work week, thereby sweetening my literary reading by giving it the weekend mornings in addition to all my afternoons, weekday and weekends. I have been long attracted to the idea of using my reading life to demarcate my weekends from my weekdays and keep closer to the rhythm of ordinary working life and give my calendar some shape, which can otherwise seem like one day running forever, a kind of Bill Murray's groundhog day, except that I still get older.

Despite having practically all of the days and all of the nights outdoors, Coco retains some favoritism for the litter box in the house. She will come inside just to avail herself of it. She is the only one like that. Ash and Sammy are apparently content to do all their business outside. This is not to say that she uses the litter box exclusively. She is outside for so much of the time that I am practically certain that she relieves herself in the great outdoors sometimes. I am not sure how to feel about Coco's predilection. It messes up the litter box and degrades the litter faster, but I suppose there is that much less shit on the lawns. I don't know, and it is not like I have any real say in it.
