Reading Life
Jul. 1st, 2016 10:50 amI was eager to get back to Hume this morning. So, I put off Mann's letters. And I find myself going back to the idea of making my mornings 'philosophy mornings' after all. I'm just loving it, and I remember that I have wanted to get back to Plato's dialogues for some time. However, I may limit my philosophy mornings to the work week, thereby sweetening my literary reading by giving it the weekend mornings in addition to all my afternoons, weekday and weekends. I have been long attracted to the idea of using my reading life to demarcate my weekends from my weekdays and keep closer to the rhythm of ordinary working life and give my calendar some shape, which can otherwise seem like one day running forever, a kind of Bill Murray's groundhog day, except that I still get older.
