A little excitement on cable news tonight. Donald Trump's rallies are notorious for their raucousness, but in the windy city of broad shoulders, the house was rocking with violent tempers, and the event was called off. The news teams continued their coverage, agog over the new level of violence in mainstream American politics. It was more exciting than watching O. J. Simpson's white Bronco jeep leading a police chase twenty years ago. Of course, this might be taking the fracturing of the American republic a little too lightly, but fires are, by their nature, mesmerizing, watching things burn down.
