Trouble with my laptop. It started yesterday morning. After firing up the computer, I checked for the Norton icon in the task bar, as is my habit, and I was a little alarmed to see that it was not there and would not open. However, after rebooting, life returned to normal. This morning, when the icon did not show up, I was a little annoyed, but I was counting on it to come back after a reboot - a minor quirk and an annoyance, but something I can live with. The problem is that I have rebooted twice so far, and Norton is still a no show. Since Pop is away on a tour to a local shoe factory, I am working on his computer. I am officially worried.

Okay, after a fourth or fifth reboot, Norton is back up.

Pop said, "I'll be going. If I forgot something ... it is forgot." I hope he abides by that, because I am getting ready to jump into a fierce wank session. I would hate for it to be spoiled by a surprise return home. He did pack away a lot of stuff for his stay-over at Kay's place, even though he still expects to return in only a couple of days, on Wednesday afternoon. It is kind of awe-inspiring to see Pop still running around like a vital young man, whilst I lumber about at home like an old elderly fellow who is kind of surprised when he wakes up to a new day.

My Health

Funny, now that my virus is gone, or at least seems so, I apparently picked up a halting cough and a ticklish throat. Maybe it's the most transient happenstance, but I have been trying to shake it off for over an hour. Nothing debilitating, as yet. It's just odd.

We have finally picked up Naphta. That means we are a little past the halfway mark. I am feeling a little itchy to pick up some more fun reading into my life, for the night-time, such as the screenplay "Broadcast News" that has been sitting on my shelves for a goodly piece of time. I need a little sugar in my reading diet. I have been on Mann for over a month, I think. I am in deep enough so that I can let loose a little. However, I will wait until I finish the John Woods translation of "Magic Mountain", and we are several weeks away before that will happen.

Having the house to myself, I am going to make a burger for dinner - a burger and cheetos. But it is a bit of a chore, and I am having some difficulty working up my pluck. Perhaps my growing appetite will motivate me. I hope the smoke detector won't go off.

Love Songs

I have the television on in order to catch callers more conveniently, rather than having to run up to a phone. I had the channel set on MSNBC news, but I had seen enough of that over the course of the evening, and I decided to tune in to the Elvis station, but then I thought I'd check the Love Songs station, and before I switched, I realized that, like last year, this mood for love songs hits me when the holiday season is on us, so that the station is presumably playing Christmas music now, as it does every year. Yet, no, they are playing good old simple love songs. Maybe they have the holiday music set on a station of its own, or maybe that is still a week away. It has been a long time since I last listened to some love songs - such as this "Always and Forever" by Heatwave. It can be pretty syrupy, and it is no wonder that I do not usually listen to such fare, but it can kind of put you in a mood, remembering when you were very young and dreamed of having love affairs, some day.
