monk222: (Little Bear)
I think I’ll wear my socks for a second day. Hmm, yeah, they don’t smell too bad. Honestly, I almost never do this. On the contrary, it is not highly unusual for me to go through a second pair of socks in one day. It’s just that it has been rather cold for May, strangely cold, and I haven’t done much sweating at all. Since Pop is not here for the weekend, I am planning a big shower this afternoon, coupled with a shave. It has been a few weeks since I last shaved, and I have a fairly full beard and mustache to chop through. This is kind of a big event for me. I will save a fresh pair of socks for that.

Wind chimes. It must be quite windy outside. The air is positively musical. I was surprised when I saw that Pop had gotten some. I imagine that it was Kay's feminine influence. But I was actually disturbed at first. Although I generally appreciate the dulcet tones of wind chimes, I have been hyper-sensitive to noise over the past couple of years. I disconnect phones and put away tick-tocky clocks to spare my nerves. I always have to put everything back, since they are Pop’s, so my war against noise is ongoing and terribly annoying. I feared that these wind chimes were going to be the opening up of a new and perilous front in my personal war. But I think I was wrong. I am liking the gentle, mellow belltones and find it to be more akin to soothing birdsong. I just hope Pop does not get more.

I was right about the next-door neighbor’s hammering. He fixed the loose board on his fence. That was the second time, over the years, I got to pet and share some affection with that neglected and deprived dog of theirs, as I reach my hand through the impaired fence. Now they have even leashed the dog again. At least they left him more than a few feet to play with this time. I doubt we will get lucky a third time. The fence is not that old and rickety.

Who is operating a chainsaw this late at night?? It sounds too noisy to be regular lawn equipment. It sounds like something out of “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”. Being alone in the house in the dark night, I actually feel a little scared. Vulnerable. The slight chill of fear. However, if they keep doing this when I go to bed, that fear will turn to anger.
