(Reuters) - Americans unhappy with the economy are poised to hand control of the House of Representatives to Republicans in Tuesday elections that are shaping up as a rebuke of President Barack Obama, a Reuters/Ipsos poll found on Monday.

Since Americans are aggrieved over the economy, they are prepared to vote for Republicans and start putting power back in the hands of those whose only policy prescriptions are to minimize taxes for the wealthy, to free the corporate powers from regulations that keep people and the environment safer, while only talking up charity when it comes to the needs and desperate straits of the lower classes. And this does promise to take 2012 and the presidential election in its sweep, since the Republicans will only block Obama from accomplishing anything, which means that the economy will only be worse, which means Americans will even prefer to vote for Sarah Palin rather than re-elect Obama. Such is the wonder of our two-party system, choking us to death.
