I don’t have any Valentiney stuff to relate. I thought about making a few curmudgeonly lines cursing the holiday, but I did that for Christmas, and I should probably do less of that.
Instead, I’ll just report about an old LJ crush who is rising in the world. Old readers of mine may remember seeing Sugar in these pages way back when. It seems she has made a journalistic splash with a story she reported on, dealing with how some mobile phones come with sexy messages that are sort of built-in, and how a Winnipeg man wound up in hot water when his girlfriend discovered them on his phone and assumed the messages belonged to him. Personally, I think I would prefer to buy such a phone, since those would probably be the only sexy messages that my phone would ever get, but I can see how it could be a problem.
Sugar’s story got picked up by Huffington Post and she got interviewed on Houston’s National Public Radio station. I wouldn’t be too surprised if she becomes one of our Talking Heads some day. She has a nice look and style about her, and as I remember, she is not short on opinions and ideas of her own, nor is she shy about them. And to think, I’ll always be able to say, “Hey, she defriended me!”
I doubt she will see this, since I don’t think we even share any LJ friends in common any longer, at least not any active ones, but in my e-kind of way, I extend my congratulations and best wishes for the future.
