This is why I shouldn't read Sugar's twitter. I caught a discussion about how Greg, her beau, turned on to Bud Lime Lite when there was a half a case left over after a night of D&D. Dungeons & Dragons, I suppose. Like teenagers or college students, couples and friends, boozing and chatting and relaxing together. That has to be a lot better than my Solitaire and solitary chess. And it's not just about one night; it's about having a lifetime of such friendly socializing and my being deprived of any of that for all of my adulthood these past 30 years. Plato, Shakespeare, Orwell, Mann, Lincoln are great, and reading "Candide", even for the dozenth time, is a laugh-riot, but it's not an evening with real friends and lovers.

A cricket? In the house. It has quite the moves, a half-flying loop-to-loop thing. I don't recall dealing with that before. Fortunately, it apparently lacks the evasion-reflex of the fly, as I was able to kill it with my shoe in one shot. That was a relief, because I was afraid that there was no way I was going to get that thing, so that it would just have to die of old age in the house somewhere.
