Trump

Krugman tweets, "Trump as dictator appalls liberals, but Trump as clown is what will kill him with his base."

I don't know. So long as he is the only white nationalist that can win an election, his base might very well stick with him come flood or fire.

We got some mail that belongs to another name. It's not that unusual, though it is happening less now. Pop still comments on it, "We've been here ten years!" and we still get this.

"Ten years? How long have we been here, Pop? More like twenty years, right?"

He is incredulous. I say, "We came here in '97, right." He still doesn't believe it. But then he says, "Theresa was here sixteen years ago, that's right!"

I am startled that he has an instant recall on her, the exact year even. I thought he did a good job of blocking out her memory.

I wonder how much he thinks of her. The last years might have been bad with her, but she was great for him in their youth. I hope he appreciates that.

I am misty-eyed in recalling at the very end she lamented not being able to get psychiatric help and feeling worthless. Like Pop, I too have to appreciate that she was not herself at the end. Life with her was better than that.

Cards

It appears I have finally broken in a new Bicycle deck well enough, a black one even, so that I can now table-shuffle it with some assurance, though the cards can still slide away on me on occasion. I was worrying that maybe Bicycle had changed their formula just as I jumped on their bandwagon.

Coincidentally, while I am on the topic of cards, I am going to try the full four-suited game of Spider. There is no real connection between these two things. It has just worked out this way. I expect that I will not come close to winning, but as I have been enjoying more success with Spider with sequential-deck dealing, I want to try the full game every once in a while. Maybe I am ready to grow into it.

"LiveJournal is becoming ... ominous." A tweet. And I concur. They did a major update, and before I could log in, they required that I accept a user-agreement that would seem to make me subject somehow to Russian law.

I'm wondering if I should delete my blog. That's how nervous I am. I'm going to see how the PolitiCartoons people react. That's the only community I fool around with.
