Windy

We're in the kitchen. I am making my chili, and Pop is preparing his coffee. He notes the wind kicking up. Yeah, it sounded to me like rain.

Falling leaves?

To me it does feel like we could still be in autumn. It feels like winter blew by us. March already?

Then it occurs to me that we never seemed to have a really big leaf-falling. This confuses me. Because our trees certainly went bald. But there was never that heavy accumulation of leaves in our yard. I remember well that there were some significant clutterings of leaves, but in years past the back yard would look and feel like it was buried under a foot of snow, such that I would feel moved to scoop up some trash-cans full of leaves before mowing. But not this year. The climate really is changing.

Pop calls me like there is a fire. It could have been bad, I guess. Kay had a bit of a spill, and they needed my youthful vigor to get her back up again. They won't learn that those kitchen chairs, despite having little roller-wheels, were not made to be used as wheel chairs. Pop, Kay, Lorie, they all give in to that temptation. And Kay is still using the chair that way after her scare, and falls are not a small thing in old age. She and Pop just think that she needs to be more careful about it.

Lincoln

Lincoln, in his youth, apparently had a bit of a gropey-touchy thing for the girls, and he once said of sexual contact, "It is the harp of a thousand strings."

See, the cats are smart - when it comes to serving their self-perceived interests. When the weather begins to look a little choppy, they will only come in one at a time, waiting for the other to come back out before entering.

We are expecting some heavy storms tomorrow morning. You have to love the timing! We've been enjoying such great weather, and now this blows into town on our Grocery morning.
