Monk awoke a little before seven. Then he just stretched in bed in the early light of morning, That's right, I still have to find out who is our president. He went to bed last night a little after Florida was given to Bush, brother to brother.
When he goes outside with Little Bear, he walks towards the newspaper gingerly with some butterflies fluttering around in his stomach. As he approaches the paper, he winces seeing BUSH in big letters through the wrapping. But he learns that it's just the way the paper was folded.
Although Monk was one to harp on how this may be another drawn out contest, he is still surprised that it's undecided. The headline reads that it's up to Ohio still to decide this thing. But then he sees that this was as of two in the morning, when the paper had to go to print.
So, Monk now goes back inside and anxiously puts on the TV. And he is excited to see that it's still undecided, 269-238. Just one vote shy of a political depression.
Oh, Ohio, please, come through for us!
