Not surprising considering the way sensation and perception, learning and memory, and the brain in general all work. Processing of information only happens last, if at all, and consciousness is one of the higher order functions.
Which is another reason I can't stand the idea of psychology as a science. To think we can ever really understand how it all works is silly. Far too complicated.
