I actually was about to outline some of the very arguments he makes before even reading the article. Basically, I think liberals just know better...they understand more of the world and the interconnectedness and, thus, have more on their minds. Conservatives are largely ignorant--happily it would seem--of the larger picture.
The point is perhaps a good one, too, about liberals viewing a sort of human rights platform of security, standard of living, and guranteed liberty which comes from the government. Expectation then creates a sense of falling short. Conservatives tend to be more skeptical of govt.. They focus on family, tribal relations and then have less to worry about...easier expectations to hit.
In other words, conservatives aim low and hit their mark. lol
