Never? Yes, Einstein was full of good quotes...what was that book I had out awhile back of his letters and such? Yeah, I'd say perhaps the only two more famous than those are "imagination is more important than knowledge" and "God does not play dice."
I think miss next hits on it a bit with the innocent quality of Einstein. He had a humbleness about him and a down-to-earth quality, I think, that drew people to him. For being a heady scientist, I think he also got respect for using his wisdom on moral/spiritual matters focusing on bettering humanity.
As for evolution, it is hard to know Einstein...he was confusing and complex in his greater feelings about science and religion than on anything else. He believed in no personal God and explicitly stated he was not a mystic. Then he would turn around and say things about the deepest spiritual sages and how morality is the most important matter to humanity. That science shows order of a most profound quality that points to "cosmic religious feeling" which he thought science's logical/intellectual capacity can point to.
