A blogging buddy once tried to sell me on HBO's "The Wire" a few years ago, but I was not interested in shows that promised to avoid nudity and sex - life is too short for kid-safe TV. However, I have just read a fascinating and extended review of the show by Francis Fukuyama, holding the show out to be a good, in-depth college-classroom lesson on urban lower-class life, as well as a sharp cop drama chsrged up with a good dose of the ultra-violence, and I think I will give it a try.
