There has been a little fireworky controversy on LJ over a picture taken from D.C.'s Slutwalk, that feminist protest in which women assert that they can dress as they please without excusing rape. Here's the first pic:

I haven't read all of that myself, and I don't want to lay out a pat position in a sentence or twenty. I presume we all believe rape is bad, and that the controversy lies with what exactly constitutes rape and the degrees of rape, along with the issues of responsibility and consequences/punishment, for instance, being able to do justice to the difference between a case where a few men abduct a woman jogging and brutally assault her leaving her for dead or indifferent to her death, and a case where a boyfriend or even a husband has less than fully happy sex with his partner and is perhaps even a little over-macho. I don't have the answers. I suppose every generation re-invents the issues and their resolution for better or worse.
