Trump World
Jun. 19th, 2018 01:09 pmTrump world continues to get nastier. Now he is forcing immigrant children, no matter how small, from their mothers and families, sometimes ripping the infant away from the mother's breast. Trump is apparently trying to use this as a bargaining chip to get the Democrats to pay for "the wall", effectively saying, "I'll stop hurting these families if you will come up with the money." It is a burning media issue.
The Republican base of poor and working whites actually like the policy, but the Republican elites are trying to distance themselves from it. For instance, the pro-business U.S. Chamber President Tom Donohue has said, “Thousands of children are being forcibly removed from their parents by our government. There is no other way to say it, this is not who we are and it must end now.”
Paul Krugman, however, picking up his game, responded, "Sorry, Mr. Donohue, this IS who you are. People like you made a deal with racists so you could get deregulation and tax cuts. Every step you took was leading to this moment."

And, in late breaking news, the United States is pulling out of the United Nations Human Rights Council. Trump is obviously taking us in a new direction.
