Reading in bed in the morning did not work as well as I hoped. I was surprised by how difficult it was for my eyes and vision to clear. And a little scared. I think I might need a good half-hour for my eyes to become fully operational ... ... Ms. Cinnamon commented on my post that was about my struggle over whether to read or to write more. Apparently my blurred morning vision was still getting the best of me when I read her comment. I thought she said, "What do you feel like writing?" Italics hers. I set it aside and thought about it a little, and an interesting answer came to me. I was going to say that I rediscovered Plato and feel moved to write a dialogue, perhaps about justice. I would raise all the philosophical and political movements that have risen and tussled over the issue, from anarchists to egalitarians to bourgeois capitalists. Later, when I decided to answer her, before I got started I saw that I had misread her. What she actually wrote was, "Write what you feel like writing." This was an instance where my blurred vision served me well. At first, to be sure, I was annoyed at having to think of an answer, but after coming up with my answer about justice, I was appreciative for what had arisen. This is not to say that I am going to attempt such a dialogue. Rather than poring over books websites about justice, I'd rather stick to what I am reading ... ... Sugar, from these summer Olympic games, has taken to rugby. She tweets, "Fully admit this is my first time really seeing rugby. It's like soccer on a couple rails of cocaine, man." LOL It's definitely not curling ... ... Frank Lavin, a gold-standard Republican speaks out, "I had the honor of serving as Ronald Reagan's White House political director from 1987 to 1989, so I can claim some insight on U.S. politics. My central conclusion on the 2016 race: It might not be entirely clear that Hillary Clinton deserves to win the presidency, but it is thunderingly clear that Donald Trump deserves to lose." [CNN-LJ] ... ... Ah, 75 years old! I thought George Will was showing his age. His looks are still groomable to let him look like a more active 60-something, but his speech has a sort of 'wobble' about it, which today led me to google him. No wonder! He is practically the same age as my father, a few months older. Net worth: three million dollars - not bad, perhaps a little modest, but Republican enough. I think Will was one of those people I lost track of when we got the Internet. Before the Internet, I made a habit of watching the Sundays news-chat shows. Recently, in the last couple of months or so, after hearing that story about him dropping his membership in the Republican Party, I felt moved to go ahead and record his show and see what he still sounds like. He's not bad, but I think I'm going to stop recording.
