A botched night of sleep. Of course, every night is a botched night of sleep now, but it was worse than usual. Between one and three I was suffering a bout of diarrhea, and I didn't go to bed until a little after midnight. Food poisoning, I presume. I don't know what did it. I am hoping it is not the ground beef I used for tacos yesterday for lunch, because I still intend to use it today for burritos.
I would bet on the chicken teriyaki. Pop saw it at H.E.B. and encouraged me to give it a try, despite the fact that it was a rather pricey item. I was more than willing to see if I can get another variety of chicken into my diet. But it did look very suspicious: a couple of breasts in a bag of thick-ish looking sauce, all very dark. It looked like a bag of botulism, or salmonella. Since I tend to overcook my meat all the way to hell and back, I wasn't worrying. However, maybe not all malignant bacteria can be burnt to death. But I don't know. If it was the sauced-up chicken, it sure took its time to strike, since I had it for lunch a couple of days ago.
Finally, this has led to a little cat drama with Sammy this morning. When I let him inside the house sometime between five and six, he took to yowling. Maybe he was looking for Ash. All I know is that I did not want him spoiling my last chance to get a couple of hours of sleep. Since the weather was nice outside, I picked him up and tossed him out onto the patio. He clearly wasn't happy about that, and I have not seen him since, as he left in a state of high dudgeon. This shouldn't be worrisome, but it has been a long time now, and he must be starving.
