Crime & Punishment
Apr. 8th, 2016 07:13 pmGrocery Day. This one was different. We came to a line of cars frozen at the Lackland gate. Pop said, "They are playing games, again." He recounted how he used to like these delays when he was going to work, since he would get paid just for sitting around all day in the car - like a schoolkid getting a snow day. I kept pushing for him to forget the commissary and just go straight to H.E.B.for today, but he was very reluctant. Finally, after close to thirty minutes of waiting, he gives in. While we were doing our shopping, Pop got a couple of calls, informing him of what was going on. A disgruntled soldier shot his commander and himself. It made national news.
