monk222: (Effulgent Days)
I think I actually slept for six hours straight. It must have been at least a couple of years since the last time I did that. I was actually hoping to not be able to sleep, so that I could finish watching the last hour of "Interstellar", even if it is obvious what is going to happen - back to earth goes McConaughey to put plan A back into effect, loading his daughter and family into the space station, and then flying back through the wormhole to the new world. To be sure, I am much happier to get the sleep. It's just that I don't even look to have it anymore. I wouldn't have minded another hour of sleep, having awoken at six, but after that good sleep, there was no going back.

I was almost certain that "Magnum P.I." was streaming on Netflix. I had finally developed an appetite to give that show a run, and now it is gone. I'm not crying. If there is one thing I am not hurting on, it is the availability of movies and TV programs. But there can still be those flashes of frustration.

Okay, I guess I shouldn't have been surprised that they were able to do something more creative with "Interstellar". It was a pretty big hit, after all. I wouldn't include it in my collection of re-watchables, but it is definitely worth a run.

Can multi-dimensionality be the path to all our dreams of happiness and heaven? A kind of 'Many Worlds' theory in which every possible thing happens somewhere. In one possible world, Claudia answers my love letter and makes me a lover. In another possible world, I get to know well the heft of Cathy's big tits. In another, I become the secret affair of Julie's and Lane's. In another, I become an historically successful lawyer and immortal writer. Maybe, in one world, all those things happen!

Probably not, but if you really hunger for it, I suppose it is a more live route than the Bible or any of the ancient or new age religions.

ASSTR

It's been a while since I browsed around the ASSTR collection of porn stories. I came across some links on my fun blog, and I decided to check them out. I didn't come across anything that hits the spot, alas. There's an itch here that I just cannot get scratched. The thought of writing something down myself still comes to mind, perhaps even to publish at the site. It's a not-so-funny joke that one who has liked to think of himself as a writer has not even been able to write a short porn story for people to jerk off to. I really am a special snowflake. God, what a life! Fifty and bust.

Ozarka

Looking over the mail in the kitchen, Pop informs me that Ozarka has changed its name to ... something like Ready and Refreshed, or Refreshed and Ready, something like that. That sounded strange and worrisome to me. Ozarka was such a solid brand name. Why change it to such a shitty slogan-like thing? I googled but could not find anything on point. I did see that Ozarka stopped coming from any natural springs back in 1972 and has only been filtered water since then. As for the name change in 2015, it must be on account of some sort of corporate jousting among firms and subsidiaries.

War Music

I was debating hard whether to get Christopher Logue's "War Music", based on eight books of the Iliad. I was concerned that I was largely driven just by the consumerist urge to buy a goody. I do have a lot to read. For instance, I could consider reading Lattimore's Iliad that has been sitting pretty on my Kindle. Accordingly, I almost held back. Almost. I like Logue's style and have felt a little affinity for him, particularly after reading his interview at The Paris Review. The excerpt that is provided at Amazon looks delicious. I ordered it. The Iliad is one of my mainstays, right there alongside Shakespeare's primary works. Raymond Carver, on the other hand, might have to make a home for himself on my 'wanna read' stack. I might never get around to those short stories.
