Watering

Watering this morning. I'm not really up for it. It's September, and I feel like I should be past this chore. However, summer came late this year, and it looks like it will leave a little late, though one can feel a slight autumnal shifting. The nights are not as beastly hot. But after the springtime deluge, it has proved to be a very dry summer.

* * *

Speaking of that autumnal shifting, it is a wonderful overcast morning. It's ten o'clock, and I do not feel a rush to put on the air-conditioner. A couple of neighbors are taking advantage of the morning to do their lawn work; Coco and Ash have come inside on account of the threatening noise of those machines. It's a good morning for watering, too. There is actually a 30% chance of rain today, but I am not betting on it. Even if it does rain, I am sure it will only nicely complement my watering. I doubt it will be a big storm, if it rains at all.

Pop is doing his monthly a-c maintenance, changing the filter and such. I move the little dresser-stand for him. While I am doing so, I see in the basket, in addition to the little rolled up paper-balls that I used to toss into a little trash can (shooting hoops), I see the brush and comb that I used on Bo. They still have wisps of his white fur in their bristles from nearly ten years ago. Of course, I still feel it, a moist throb in my chest. I don't ever want to lose this feeling. He was my life's greatest love, my life-long partner. He will always be with me.

Look at me, world! Master of computer code. A super-hacker in the making. A couple of weeks ago I was feeling a little desperate to embed YouTube videos on my fun blog. It looks a lot better on the page than merely having a link. The problem is that Squeaky never cared to upgrade his website to use the new iframe code that YouTube, along with everybody else, uses. As it so happens, Bri made a post about this. Since I knew her from my somewhat recent flirtations with Christianity, I asked if she knew a way to get around Squeaky's indifference. She did, and she gave me a link to a site the provides the old embed codes for YouTube videos.

Problem solved! Right?

Wrong. After less than a week of my happy discovery, the site went dead. And I went back to being desperate. I recalled my first days of learning HTML on Blurty, just mimicking the code that Cheever provided. I tried to see if I could see how to convert YouTube's codes on my own, but I gave up after a few minutes. It looked much more involved and way too confusing.

Still feeling desperate, I googled again for another answer, and I saw one guy talk about how he just looked at the old code and figured out how to do it. He seemed like just a regular joe, not some computer geek. This made me think that it must be possible, and I gave it another look, and I finally saw it. Now I can embed YouTube videos again on my fun blog, formerly known as my porn blog.
