Jack was supposed to come to pick up the mower. His is broken and he apparently still does mow for his spending money. Pop also points out that Jack will no doubt want him to buy him another one. It sounds like Pop may let him keep this one, and get me a better one, maybe.

But it is Jill who comes. She does everything, in addition to working jobs, while he just struts about and swaggers and blusters. I cannot repress asking Pop, “Do you think Jack still mows, or do you think he has her do that too.” Pop laughs. I just hope he can repress the urge to repeat the tale.

The girl, Becky, was with her. Is it just me, or has she lightened in skin color? She looks a lot more like Jack’s daughter now. Quite pretty. Both kids do not need to worry about the obesity epidemic that is raging around us. Their will o’ the wisp physiques give off the impression that it is impossible for them to be anything other than wonderfully slim and trim. Just like Jack.
