Yay, I guess Maureen Dowd was not on a vacation. I've grown attached again to her columns, and today's is a decent one on Dick Cheney's new kiss-and-tell that has been getting some media buzz, naturally.

A one-coke day
It’s a one-coke day, and I was going to have a soggy cereal breakfast, but in the end I couldn’t resist that luscious red velvet cake beckoning to be freed from the cupboards, but I did manage to forget about the coke, giving me the freedom to sweeten my lunch, which should be tacos.
And water worked well enough to wash the cake down. Moreover, it is such a sweet cake that coke was always a bit of a sugar-overload, and I often felt a little bad afterward, though I wondered if it was just guilt. I have probably needed to better stabilize my body-system for a long time, instead of letting my sugar levels wildly rush skyward and then crashing down and then back up again, and I guess my body has been telling me for a while that I am too old now to be that careless.
