G. K. Chesterton
May. 25th, 2011 07:39 amFairy tales are more than true: not because
they tell us that dragons exist, but because
they tell us that dragons can be beaten.
-- G. K. Chesterton
I found this particularly interesting because I wonder what it might say about Chesterton's Christianity. I have taken him to be a full-blooded believer, not blanching before the most astounding calls for supernaturalism. Could I be mistaken in that? Could it be that he believes Christianity is true because of the hope it gives to believers?
