The First Library Trip

My first library trip went well enough. Via got new busses over the summer. Nice seats. Narrow seats, especially for fatty San Antonio, but they look and feel like a definite upgrade. And they didn’t even raise the fares - yet. I actually had to ask a fellow passenger how to signal the driver to stop, since there are no pull cords. Then, walking to the library, I see that they have finally finished putting up the buildings on Soledad Street. It feels like I have been gone for two or three years rather than one passing summer. Sometimes I get a little dizzy over how fast time spins.

As for my chicken fried rice, I suffered a real scare, that my restaurant was shut down, after all. I was mistaken, though I see its seriously truncated hours, open only from ten until two. Did they give up the dinner trade? The place is obviously struggling, and I regret not having a friend to bring with me for lunch, if not a party of four or five. The hostess looks like she is in mourning when I pay my meager ten dollars for my simple meal, and I feel a little guilty.
