Interestingly, the fiesty Siamese is trailing the Calico a bit in development. Calico is able to walk quite gamely, whereas it still seems like a challenge for the Siamese to break from a crawl. Maybe my morning stimulation, in which I bring them to the center of the patio and get them moving about, is helping to strengthen the Siamese. And they now do venture on their own beyond the old one-yard rule.
Maybe females mature earlier in cats as they do in humans. I recall that Ash became a skilled climber before Willy was able to work up the nerve to climb up a fence, and he watched her up high rather shamefaced and even cringed a bit as if in embarrassment.
