Porn princess, Marilyn Chambers, died over the weekend. For me, it's a little like learning that one of your first lovers has passed away. Her first movie, "Behind the Green Door," marks the beginning of that golden era when the porn industry went mainstream, with all that exciting buzz about the Ivory Soap girl getting dirty for us in front of the camera. Though, my favorite scene of hers has to be the one in "Insatiable," in which she plays the spoiled teen rich girl that is made to take a boning by the young ethnicky house laborer.

Yeah, I'm getting old.

“I got arrested for vagrancy on Hollywood Blvd. The same spot, two nights in a row. I had no place to sleep, so I would walk all night. When they gave me my star on Hollywood Blvd., I told them to put it on the spot where I got arrested.”

-- Jay Leno

I remember following the late night talk shows up through the big switch and controversy when Leno took over for Johnny Carson. I liked Leno, and I have felt a little guilty for not continuing to follow the show much after that, but network TV just became punishingly dull for me - even "Special Victims Unit" of the Law & Order shows couldn't keep me, except perhaps for a briefly resuscitated interest in the summer of 2005, heh. Anyway, it must feel good to come out on top after life dumps on you like that. Yeah, it must feel real nice.

A friend posted about GoodReads.com, where you can maintain 'shelves' containing all the books you have read and the books that you want to read. Instead of cluttering my blog with the books that I keep throwing onto my wish list, this looks like a convenient and sexy enough site to store that information.
