Out there holding the umbrella over Bo and myself. This is a full rain. With this rain, we must be caught up with our water needs. I'm just worried about these flashbacks from Deluge 2007. This ugly, congested grey sky looks like it could go on for days and weeks. Shouldn't last year have been a once in a generation kind of thing? Mother Nature continues to play this crazy see-saw game with us of going from drought to drowning.

Showing that she is not without her own brand of audacity, Hillary offers Obama the number two spot on the ticket, even though he remains well ahead.

And

New York's Governor Spitzer has been caught in a prostitution sting. These babes charge three to four thousand dollars per hour - not for the night, but for an hour! And I don't suppose that you can slap them around and tie them up and stuff, either. If there is a crime here, it has to be those rates: that's price gouging!

Isn't it about time we made prostitution an offense along the lines of a speeding ticket or maybe double-parking? At least we get to see Heidi Fleiss again on the news-chat shows, being something of an expert on the subject.

And one more for obscene audacity

Brent Bozell (or something like that; maybe we should just make it Bozo) says that we need to elect a Republican to repair the damage that was done to the military by who? That's right: the Clinton Administration.

Remember: Politics isn't about reality, but the perception of reality.

"If Obama was a white man, he would not be in this position. And if he was a woman (of any color) he would not be in this position. He happens to be very lucky to be who he is. And the country is caught up in the concept."

-- Geraldine Ferraro

Even if there were something to that, if everything else were equal, there is something to be said about giving extra points to a person of color for the presidency, on the grounds that it would mean much more to the world at large to see the great imperialist superpower led by one of down-trodden skin color. True power would no longer be seen as really just a white man's game. In terms of this symbolism of power, a black man would mean more to the world than a white woman, especially when he is one of a liberal, internationalist predisposition.

And it's good to see that Geraldine is still alive. I thought we lost her in the eighties.
