Caroline Glick has another provocative piece arguing that Western societies are unwittingly committing suicide through a naively unwitting program of multiculturalism. She does it in a way that actually enables me to better appreciate the mindset of the progressives that has rather baffled me when it comes to the Islamists, in the way she speaks of a vision of the "post-national thought stream" (sounds very post-modern), and how the Jews and Americans are the real enemies of this 'enlightened' and 'progressive' movement.
This strikes a nerve with me, because I'm certainly not Mr. Blue-Eyed Aryan Rich Boy. Am I not seeing the Promise Land? Have I internalized too much of the Western racism?
I don't think so. I can certainly appreciate the shortcomings of Western civilization, but this anti-American, anti-Jewish post-national thought stream certainly does not look like a superior ideology. Siding with the Islamists is nothing but a big step backwards, as far as I'm concerned. We may as well give more power to our own Christian fundamentalists, such as a Pat Robertson or the late Jerry Falwell, who certainly are not worse except in that they are white.
