Getting the Pieces in Order
May. 22nd, 2006 09:03 am♠
WASHINGTON, May 21 — The Bush administration is moving to establish a new antimissile site in Europe that would be designed to stop attacks by Iran against the United States and its European allies.
-- Michael R. Gordon for The NY Times
One gets the distinct impression that pre-emptive strikes against Iran are no longer meaningfully in the offing. We seem to be back to the pragmatic attitudes of adaptation and containment. I suppose we have swallowed enough failure and tragedy with the big ideas and the grand strategic conceptions. Still, what is the future looking like... oh, brave new world.
It is noted that Iran is years away from having a missile-delivery system that can carry a punch to Europe or America, nuclear or not. We are just getting the pieces in order. Though, Iran can strike Israel, to keep the love going.
